Unfortunately, these incidents are not just creating an eyesore; they're costing our community thousands of dollars. The City of Rifle has already spent more than $5,000 cleaning up and repairing the damage, with repairs to the park's circular seating area alone expected to cost approximately $3,000.

In Colorado, vandalism is prosecuted as Criminal Mischief under Colorado Revised Statutes ยง 18-4-501. Depending on the amount of damage, the penalties can be severe. Damage valued between $2,000 and under $5,000 is a Class 6 Felony, punishable by 1 to 1ยฝ years in prison, along with fines and restitution.
Our parks belong to everyone. Every dollar spent repairing vandalism is a dollar that can't be invested in improving our parks, trails, and community.
Let's work together to identify those responsible and keep Rifle a place we can all be proud of.

๐ Important Documents ๐
Be Prepared, Not Scared โ Rifle Ready
If you had to leave your home with only a few minutes' notice, would you know exactly where your important documents are?
One of the easiest ways to reduce stress during an emergency is to gather your family's important documents before they're needed. Whether you're evacuating because of a wildfire, dealing with a flood, or recovering from another emergency, having everything in one place can save valuable time.
Consider creating an Important Documents Folder or a waterproof, portable file box that you can quickly grab if you need to leave.
Here are a few documents to consider:
๐ Driver's licenses, passports, birth certificates, and Social Security cards
๐ Homeowners or renters insurance policies
๐ณ Health insurance cards and prescription information
๐ผ Property deeds, vehicle titles, and registration
๐ฐ Bank account information and other important financial records
๐พ Pet vaccination records, microchip information, and veterinary records
๐ Emergency contact information
๐ท A home inventory with photos or videos of your belongings
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Every family is different. Think about what documents would be difficultโor impossibleโto replace and what information you would need to recover after an emergency.
For extra peace of mind, consider scanning important documents and storing encrypted digital copies in a secure cloud service or on a password-protected flash drive kept in your go kit.
๐ฆ During a wildfire evacuation, you don't want to spend valuable time searching through filing cabinets or wondering where your insurance policy, passports, or pet records are. When you're in Ready, Set, or Go, your focus should be on getting your family to safetyโnot trying to remember where important paperwork is.
๐ค **Rifle Ready Challenge**

As part of our **Rifle Cares** commitment, encourage a friend, family member, or neighbor to do the same. A little preparation today can make recovery much easier tomorrow.
