Saturday, April 25th is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day .
From 10am-2pm, safely dispose of your unused prescriptions for free!
https://takebackday.dea.gov/

Unfortunately, prescription drugs often find their way into the wrong hands, including children, which can be dangerous and lead to addiction. Continue to make a difference and keep our families and communities safe.

In October 2025, during the last National Take Back Day, over 571,054 lbs. (286 tons) of prescription drugs were collected at almost 4,500 collection sites across the country.

Since the inception of this event in September 2010, over 20,391,815 lbs. (10,196 tons) have been collected.

Clean out your medicine cabinets and responsibly discard your prescription drugs – especially any controlled substances, on this day.

You can find a collection site at Richmond Police Department: 1000 Macdonald Ave, Richmond, CA 94801

If you miss the opportunity for this day, click here https://recyclemore.com/hazardous-waste/sharps-and-pharmaceutical-drop-off/ to find drop-off sites which operate all year round, for West Contra Costa County residents only (no controlled substances allowed for drop-off at the year-round sites).
