The Faison Center
At the Faison Center, our mission is simple - to give children and adults with autism and related challenges the best opportunity to improve their life's journey through evidence-based practice. Our mission across the lifespan is accomplished through specific programs designed to meet the needs of families at different points in their lives: the Faison School, the Faison Behavioral Health Clinic, and Faison Adult Services.

Nearly three-quarters of law enforcement officers have never received formal autism-specific training, yet most have already responded to calls involving someone on the spectrum. This gap is widened by the fact that autism is often an “invisible” disability, with no obvious indicators that an individual may have communication or behavioral differences requiring a different approach.
Faison Center staff Eli Newcomb and Dr. Byron Wine take this issue on in their feature article in the FBI’s most recent issue of the Law Enforcement Bulletin. “Interactions Between Law Enforcement and Individuals with Autism” offers practical recommendations to help law enforcement have safe and effective interactions with individuals with autism.
The article will reach law enforcement audiences worldwide and is the latest development in our ongoing partnership with the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation to support autism training at their National Academy at Quantico.

At this year's Council of Autism Service Providers - CASP Annual Conference, our own Brian McCann was honored for his nine years of service on the CASP Board of Directors. During Brian’s three terms on the board, he served for four years as Board Chair. As he steps down from his service to this organization, we want to congratulate and thank him for his dedication and leadership to the field of autism services.
This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, and we recognize the families who carry their legacy forward.
