A PATREON LIVE TOMORROW AT 10:00 AM 🔥
📍 https://www.patreon.com/cw/BeTempered
This one is especially meaningful for the entire BeTempered team.
Tomorrow at 10:00 AM, Dan, Ben, and Shawn sit down with Coach Mark Hoffman. A man who has spent more than 40 years impacting students, athletes, and families through education and coaching. Coach Hoffman played a significant role in the lives of both Dan and Shawn, but his influence extends far beyond the football field or classroom.
He taught discipline, hard work, accountability, and what it means to be a good man. More importantly, he genuinely cared about the kids. What many didn't see were the countless times he quietly helped students in need, whether that meant buying clothes or shoes, giving a kid money for food, or simply being there when someone needed encouragement. Those acts weren't for recognition; they were simply who he was.
And if you've ever been around Coach Hoffman, you already know... 😂
You never know what story is coming next.
This conversation will be filled with hilarious coaching stories, unforgettable moments, life lessons, and a behind-the-scenes look at a man who has influenced generations of young people.

“You can’t have pressure and gratitude at the same time.”
A simple message from a friend changed everything for Carson Brower.
Like so many athletes, Carson tied his identity to performance. The pressure to succeed, to be perfect, and to live up to expectations fueled anxiety, depression, and a constant feeling of never being enough.
But when he stopped finding his worth in baseball and started finding it in Christ, everything changed.
Gratitude replaced pressure. Faith replaced fear. Peace replaced anxiety.
Not because life got easier. Not because of a statistic, a scholarship, or a win.
Because he realized his identity was never meant to be found in a sport—it was always meant to be found in Jesus Christ.
A powerful reminder from a 21-year-old young man that what you do is not who you are.

Less polished. More personal. More community.

Isaiah 43:2 has been the heartbeat of BeTempered since day one.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.”
Notice what God doesn’t say. He doesn’t say if you face hardship. He says when.
At BeTempered, we’ve never believed life would be easy. We know there will be storms, setbacks, loss, doubt, disappointment, and moments that test every ounce of who we are. We’ve all faced waters that felt too deep and fires that felt too hot.
But this verse reminds us that we’re never walking through them alone.
Being tempered isn’t about avoiding adversity, it’s about being strengthened by it. Just like steel is refined through heat, our character is forged through the challenges we endure. Every difficult conversation, every painful season, every obstacle we overcome becomes part of the process God uses to shape us into who He created us to be.
This verse has become our mission, our mindset, and our reminder: Keep moving forward. Do hard things. Trust God in the process.
No matter what you’re carrying today, remember this, God didn’t promise an easy path, but He did promise His presence.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to take the next step.
When you pass through the waters… He is with you.
When you walk through the fire… He is with you.
Keep going.

A few BTS photos from our conversation with Carson Brower.
Funny story... I didn't really know Carson's full story before we sat down. I wasn't sure where the conversation would go or where he stood in his faith journey. Then he walked in wearing a shirt that said, "Jesus Won." That made me smile right away. I knew it was going to be awesome after that!
What followed was an incredible conversation about adversity, identity, faith, and perseverance. Carson's story is a powerful reminder that some of life's biggest battles happen off the field.

What happens when the thing you’ve built your identity around gets taken away?
This week on BeTempered, Carson Brower shares an incredible story of resilience, faith, and finding purpose beyond performance.
Born with VATER syndrome affecting his right arm, Carson overcame incredible odds to become a Division 1 pitcher.
But his greatest battle wasn’t on the baseball field—it was the struggle with depression, anxiety, and discovering who he was when baseball could no longer define him.
From a life-changing phone call from his mom to the faith that carried him through some of his darkest moments,
Carson’s story is a powerful reminder that our identity is found in something greater than our accomplishments.
If you’ve ever struggled with adversity, mental health, athletics, faith, or finding your purpose, this conversation is for you.

BeTempered Episode 109 – Identity Beyond Performance with Carson Brower What happens when the thing you've built your identity around gets ...
A mother's Intuition!
While battling depression in college, Carson found himself at one of the lowest points of his life. Like so many people who struggle, he was carrying the weight silently and trying to handle it on his own.
Then, out of nowhere, his mom called.
What makes this moment so powerful is that Carson opened up and told her something he hadn’t been telling others: “I’m not OK.”
A mother’s intuition is an incredible thing, but sometimes you can’t help but wonder if God had His hand in it too. The timing was exactly what Carson needed. One phone call. One honest conversation. One reminder that he wasn’t alone.
This is a powerful part of Carson’s story that will be releasing this Friday and a reminder that sometimes the people who love us most can sense when we’re hurting, even when we try our best to hide it. And sometimes God’s timing shows up through a simple phone call.
