Let’s become our own bff 😊❤️
Let the “inner friend” grow and the “inner critic” go.
Due to so many factors, including the wiring of our brain having a default negative bias and we are highly effected by societal conditioning, we often are extremely self critical and have inner narratives that create the storylines in our mind that can make us feel a lack of self worth, a lack of belonging, isolated and much more. If the “inner critic” can grow that means we can also grow the “inner friend.”
A mindfulness technique that helps grow the inner friend is training ourselves to have gratitude and compassion for our authentic self and befriending our inner experiences.
By taking time each day to cultivate gratitude and self compassion to celebrate what makes us unique while tapping into our inner resilience we can slowly start to eliminate the inner critic. Ideally we can start the day by doing this. Try it out, either with your eyes closed or looking with connection into the mirror think of things that you are grateful for about yourself and send yourself compassion and love. It might be hard at first but the more we practice the more it will grow!

Practicing Mindful Emotions is deeply transformational.
Emotions can be so challenging to navigate but when we practice mindfulness and use our mindful skills we can navigate emotions in such more healthy ways.
First we learn that emotions come wne emotions go and we should treat them all like friends. Once we don’t judge our emotions they don’t have as much power over us.
We also know that strong emotions can be extra hard so we can use name it to tame it.
Try it out. Notice an emotion in you right now. Name that emotion by just saying it in your head or outloud 3-5 times.
Now check where that emotion might be felt strongest in the body and bring body awareness with Heartfulness and breath in and breath out.
Now check in. Has anything changed? If so or if not, no judgment because that’s what mindfulness is, allowing what is here now in our experience to be here with heartfulness.

“Mindfulness is important to me because it has opened me up to the thoughts of non judgement with emotions and feelings. I love how mindfulness allows for us to share how we are feeling whether not so great or good. Mindfulness creates a great community in class with so much support for one another and no judgement is there.“ -7th grader, Mindful Life Project Partner School
