Two reasons to visit Maymont Farm this weekend: a farewell to bid and a welcome to give.

🐴 The farewell is for our dear retired thoroughbred horse, Lorna, who will be returning to the Equine Welfare Society in Keswick, Virginia, after nearly 2 years in the Maymont family. The equine experts at EWS have the extended skills to care for Lorna, who has developed some age-related chronic health issues that require specialized care and handling.

🗓️ Visit before her expected transfer on Tuesday, July 14 to bid Lorna farewell. 🫶 She will be missed — especially by our retired standardbred racehorse Artie, who will be joined in the horse paddock by the Sicilian donkey Percy, to help him adjust. 🫏 Have a memory with Lorna? 🐐 In good news, you can help us welcome 2 new faces at Maymont Farm: 5-month-old Nubian goat kids, Rev and Pope. 🐐 Maybe you’ve met them, as they joined our goat herd in late spring. The Nubian goats can be spotted by their distinctive long, floppy ears. Bring your quarters cause they are happy to be fed grass pellets! 🌾

📍 Find Maymont Farm at one of our 3 entrances, at 1001 Spottswood Road, Richmond, Virginia. The barn is open 12–4pm, but mornings between 10am-12pm are a great time to see animals in their pastures before warmer temps.
