Everyone read, share, someone’s life maybe changed mental health

As I sat back and reflected on what I'm thankful for, I realized, sitting here on the couch next to my adult son watching Chiefs and Cowboys, Fu**in A. Fu**in A I'm thankful I'm here. Most of y'all didn't know but I'm going to share something.
The struggle is real. Had another disagreement with my girlfriend last week. She left the house and it wasn't long after, a demon caught me. Put me in a pretty bad place. Im also still recovering from my back surgery. All sorts of emotions overcame me. I made a plan then remembered my step son was home. I changed my mind and called 988. Hung up several times. Then called and told the other person I was out of options and didn't know what to do. She asked several questions about my plans and if I had weapons in the house. If so, were they secured? Ummmm, I live rural and around cookers so there is that. She talked me into going to the VA hospital. Stayed on the phone till I was about 5 minutes away. Even called me back when I lost signal. When I got off the phone with her, I felt better and questioned if I needed to go. I went anyway because I said I would. To keep from a long story getting longer, since I was a volunteer inpatient they won't take guns (my VA anyway) I had a great reset in the psych unit. Learned a lot and would 💯 recommend to anyone of you brothers.
I am pretty reserved when it comes to mental health and try to be stronger than I am. I'm putting this out there because on this special day, I am thankful for all you brothers you are my family and I know I can call anytime. That is where my hesitation comes in. From now on, I will make that call. Weather it's one of you, or 988.
