If you can't answer these five questions in under a minute, you may be at risk!
Cybersecurity isn't just about having antivirus software or meeting compliance requirements. It's about knowing how your firm would respond when something goes wrong.
Here are five questions every attorney should be able to answer:
❓Where is our client data actually stored?
❓Who currently has access to that data?
❓What happens to accounts and permissions when an employee leaves?
❓How often are our backups tested to make sure they actually work?
❓If we experienced a cyberattack tomorrow, what would our response look like?
You don't need to know every technical detail, but you should know the answers.
Because when confidential client information is involved, uncertainty is a risk.
If any of these questions made you pause, that's a good place to start. A quick cybersecurity review can identify gaps before they become expensive problems.

Your technology isn't the problem. The downtime is.
When your phones stop working, your email goes offline, or your team can't access critical files, you've moved beyond an IT inconvenience. You're dealing with a business interruption.
Every minute of downtime affects productivity, customer trust, revenue, and your team's ability to do their jobs. For law firms, medical practices, financial professionals, and other service-based businesses, even a short outage can create missed deadlines, delayed communication, and unnecessary risk.
The best IT strategy isn't about fixing problems faster. It's about reducing the chances they happen in the first place through proactive monitoring, reliable backups, security, and a documented recovery plan.
A question worth asking: If your systems went down this afternoon, how long would your business be able to operate?
If you're not confident in that answer, it's probably time to review your business continuity plan.
