YOU LEFT PAW PRINTS ON MY SOUL
People often talk about the paw prints our dogs leave behind.
The muddy ones across freshly cleaned floors.
The tiny prints pressed into sand along a favorite beach.
The marks left on blankets, furniture, and countless memories.
But the deepest paw prints were never visible.
They were the ones you left on my soul.
Long before I realized it, you had become part of my everyday life.
Part of every morning.
Part of every routine.
Part of every dream for tomorrow.
I never questioned whether you'd be there.
You simply always were.
Then one day, life reminded me that nothing earthly lasts forever.
And suddenly, I found myself learning how to live in a world where I could no longer see you.
Yet somehow, I still feel you.
In quiet moments.
In unexpected memories.
In the warmth that fills my heart whenever your name crosses my mind.
Your body may be gone.
Your bed may sit empty.
But your love remains.
Not as a memory fading with time.
But as a permanent piece of who I am.
Some dogs walk beside us.
Soul Dogs walk within us.
And every step I take now carries the paw prints you left on my soul.

THE HARDEST GOODBYE IS THE ONE YOU NEVER PREPARE FOR
Nobody tells you that the hardest part of loving a dog isn't the responsibility.
It's the goodbye.
It's knowing that no matter how many walks you take, how many treats you share, or how many photos you save, time always moves too fast.
One day you'll realize your puppy has become a senior.
The toy they once destroyed now sits untouched.
The steps they once sprinted up are climbed slowly.
And suddenly, every ordinary moment becomes precious.
You start memorizing the sound of their paws.
You start taking longer walks.
You start giving extra hugs.
Because deep down, you know that love isn't measured by years.
It's measured by moments.
And dogs give us a lifetime of moments packed into far too few years.

THE EMPTY SIDE OF THE BED
Every dog owner knows this feeling.
You crawl into bed and instinctively leave space.
Space for the dog who used to curl up beside you.
Space for the warm body that made sleeping uncomfortable but somehow perfect.
Space for the friend who never cared if you had a bad day, gained weight, or cried yourself to sleep.
They were simply there.
Night after night.
Year after year.
Then one day, the bed becomes bigger.
And somehow, that's the saddest thing of all.
Because we'd gladly trade comfort for one more night beside them.
One more snore.
One more nudge.
One more sleepy tail wag.
Love leaves empty spaces behind.
And some spaces can never truly be filled.
