Ok, last set of Cooper's Hawk shots, I promise... until I get more!

This set is one of my recent favorites - especially because when I went shooting, it was the first time I took my daughter with me. These photos and that day will always have a special place in my heart. Watching her face light up at the sight of nature was something truly incredible.

Red-tailed Hawks are synonymous with desert landscapes and Nevada itself. Known for their striking features, such as their rust colored red tail feathers, their curved beaks, and varying colors and patterns of their plumage (as a species, they have one of the most diverse ranges of colors and patterns).

I was fortunate enough to have this one fly on a light post just over me as I was leaving Swan Lake Nature Study Area - resulting in some of the best close-up raptor shots I have taken.

Since October of last year, up to this current day, Cooper's Hawks have been front and center during a good amount of my outings. One of the things I love about them (and many other hawks in our region) is their diversity in color and plumage patterns.
