Highly Anticipated

This is my ‘celebration bread’ and a little trinket for running 13.1 miles! My legs are so sore, and I’m super emotional, but so I’m so glad I constantly question my beliefs of what I’m capable of. Baby’s first half-marathon ✌️

When I came across this Miles Davis quote it stopped me in my tracks. I think a lot about identity development and that’s commonly called ‘finding your voice.’ I believe we’re all born with it, get conditioned and traumatized, lose it— because we need to adapt and get what we need— and journey to rediscover our authentic selves. That journey takes a s**t load of time, a lot of work, mentors, friends, experiences, and hired help. Miles Davis was a natural talent, but when he first started playing the trumpet, he copied what his teacher Elwood Buchanan taught him— he had to develop his style of playing! As I’m discovering my unique voice I love reminders like this that it’s a process, and by no means a character flaw if you if you don’t have your entire style figured out yet— the journey is the fun part.
