Redmond School Break Food Box Program

Distribution Saturday is almost here! Excited to see the team of volunteers and get to work!

Thank you to Cub Scout Pack 591 for helping pack food for our spring break distribution. Your hard work and energy made a big difference and we appreciate you!

This week, we’re highlighting one of our wonderful volunteers, Keven Smith. We asked him a few questions about his experience, and here’s what he shared with us.

What inspired you to start volunteering with us?
“My wife and I believe that helping to feed kids is important in our area. Even in a well-to-do area, there are still kids who need help getting enough healthy food.”

What’s been your favorite part of volunteering?
“The connections with the people—other volunteers and the clients.”

A memorable moment?
“I enjoy seeing all the volunteers on delivery day as they load my big, old ugly pick-up.”

What do you do when you’re not volunteering?
“Babysit my 14-month-old grandson, golf and bake.”

What have you learned since you started?
“Each of us can make a difference even if we are playing a small role.”

We’re so thankful for volunteers like him who bring their time, heart, and even their big old pick-ups to help make sure kids in our community have access to healthy food.
