Gary wasn’t just a supporter of athletics. Choir, drama and band were also in heavy rotation. One band member at his memorial remarked that “Gary made band cool. Gary WAS cool.” AGREED. 😎🎬🎭🎤🥁🎹🎼🎷🎺

As a gift from graduating classes over the years, Gary received letterman’s jackets. He lettered in EVERY sport including girls diving!! This got a huge laugh at his memorial service. 😂👍🏻☀️🏆🏊🏻‍♂️🤼🏌🏽⛹🏽🤸🏻‍♂️⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🥎🏉🏐🎾⛳️🥍

More about Gary…it’s no wonder that he loved animals and they loved him. He adored rock and roll music as well as country and local DJ’s knew Gary. He had strong options that he was glad to share but he accepted when others disagreed. What a lesson!

Over the next few weeks we will share photos from Gary’s slide show. It was so fun to learn more about this incredible man! For example, I never knew how much he loved country music. Thanks to Gary’s “estate” I was gifted a Dixie Chicks CD. 🤷🏼‍♀️❤️🙏🏻☀️

It was an incredible day on Thursday, saying goodbye to precious Gary Hartness. Massive gratitude to Bellevue High School for opening it's doors for Gary one last time. It was wonderful to meet Kara who was the past president of the Gary Hartness Club and other kids who may not have known Gary, but their parents were sure to bring them so they could hear about the history of Gary's legacy to BHS. Thank you Spencer Welch for sharing his musical gift, Bruce Robinson for his slide show and heartfelt eulogy, Chris Hoffman and the current A.D. at BHS for their thoughtful commentary. Marie Vieth & Paul Davidson, thank you for memories shared. Finally to The Strand Family Nancy, Kim Strand Blackburn & Kelli Strand Daniels. To Alan Strand, you met Gary before I was born, I found out things I didn't know about Gary and YOU. Watching you and Mom love Gary is a marvelous example that I will carry with me forever. Gary will continue to be a beacon of KINDNESS and how he lived proves the ripple effect one tremendous person can have. I plan on continuing to honor Gary by posting to this page. The slide show should be available soon...you won't want to miss it! Thank EVERYONE who loved Gary Hartness!

The day we hoped wouldn’t come was today…our beloved friend, Gary Hartness has passed away. It was a massive cardiac arrest and despite the best efforts of paramedics and Evergreen ER staff, he has gone to be with his Savior Jesus. The Strand Family Alan Strand Kim Strand Blackburn and Kelli Strand Daniels will be working on a celebration of life for Gary. If you would like to participate, please message this page or the Strand Family. He was a light in our lives and touched so many with his unstoppable spirit and positivity. Watching my folks, Nancy and Alan Strand, care for him for as long as I can remember was an example of fierce love and gentleness. My Dad called Gary his pal and it lit him up when dad walked in the room. Dad was his protector and together with mom visited Gary nearly every week, We will always love him and never forget him. Until we meet you again in heaven Gary!!💔✝️
