Sleep providers, it's time to put your thinking caps on. 💡
The ugly truth remains the truth.
The problems you feel relieved to leave behind in your practice when you head home tonight?
They're the same ones you'll feel overwhelmed by when you show up Monday morning.
Whether it's broken workflows ❌, team members who don't own their roles ❌, or dried-up referral flow ❌... nothing will change if you don't do anything about it.
Action is the only effective response.
What are you doing to fix them?
How can you move NOW to build a better tomorrow?
Friendly reminder from .patel: No test, no treatment, end of story.
NEVER treat a patient with snoring or sleep apnea, without testing them for OSA first.
That's not just to protect your patient. That's to protect your practice too.
✅ No room for guessing- an HST shows you exactly what treatment your patient needs
✅ It (can) save your patients a lot of money. Insurance will cover OSA treatment
✅ Your practice gets protected from huge risks
Start testing. Then start treating. That's doing sleep the right way.

Is there a genetic component to OSA? 🧐
The answer is a resounding YES.
According to Dr. Cinthya Peña Orbea, anywhere from 30% to 70% of OSA risk can be directly attributed to inherited health factors.
Here's the traits you should be watching out for:
↳ Body weight & fat distribution - extra fatty tissue in the neck & abdominal regions
↳ Craniofacial anatomy - smaller/recessed jaw, narrow/high-arched palate, short neck, narrow throat
↳ Poor breathing control
↳ Family history - 40% of AHI variance can be explain by familial factors
Screening can be so. simple.
You have a direct view to the airway, fat distribution, & craniofacial anatomy of every patient that sits in the chair.
You already ask about family medical history - ask about OSA too.
It just takes making the change. Screen every patient for OSA... and start now!
