Shasta through Oak woodlands, rolling hills and open plains with views of Mt. Lassen to the East and the Yollo Bolly Wilderness to the west. The wide river bed accommodates reliable flows from 4,000 up to 20,000 cfs and above, yet remains a well mannered giant due to the low gradient. The largest rapids are non-technical class II, though current can be swift. The mild climate, sweeping vistas, easy access points and reliable flow combine to make this a wonderful venue for paddle sport of all sorts, accommodating the experienced marathoner and the first timer as well.
