Mom, your daughter sometimes feels like she can't do it anymore, that the air is heavy and life is close.
Mom, your daughter sometimes wonders if it’s really worth it, if you doubted it too, if you were scared, if you ever failed.
Mom, your daughter does not always feel like looking at the sky, sometimes she drags her feet, knots words down her throat and lets her eyes be puddles of tears.
Mom, your daughter gets tired, falls down, gets unwell, gets into bed, starts screaming and bleeds her soul.
But Mom, your daughter remembers that she is your daughter and then she gets up, shakes her knees, elbows, hope. You take a warm bath and put in the pot coffee with cloves, anise, cinnamon and piloncillo, embroider a new armor because you didn't raise it to surrender, looks in the mirror, and from there, recognizes your smile.
Mom, sometimes your daughter needs to slow down, throw down one after another, re-meet herself, shatter dreams and build new ones on top of those. Sometimes you need to sit down to take a breath, scream to release fear, discover, reinvent yourself.
Mom, your daughter hurts sometimes, but just like you, she doesn't give up..
