We live in a word where the parasite we call social media brainwashed women into turning fitness into all about being โ€œless.โ€ โ€ฆor a smaller version of themselves.โฃ

Think about it, all the words you see to describe women and their training itโ€™s:โฃ

-thinโฃ
-leanโฃ
-lossโฃ

Makes me want to vomit in my mouth.โฃ

This is SO TOXIC.โฃ

Truth is thereโ€™s no different scheme when it comes to training men vs women.โฃ

Whether guy or girl, strength training helps to increase athletic performance, increase muscle mass (which helps improve body composition (muscle takes up less space than fat), metabolic rate, and overall caloric burn โ€œat restโ€), scare off osteoporosis/osteopenia, in addition to reducing the likelihood of injury, I could go on forever.โฃ

Ladies, Strive to be more rather than wanting to be less?โฃ

Here I have my client/ good friend performing a modified reverse lunge that has been one of my favorites.โฃ
โฃ
The resistance band placed around the planted leg serves as an incredibly simple but effective way to resist knee extension, thus maximizing the use of the hamstrings which are commonly underused in traditional variations of this movement. This is also extremely healthy on the knees and one I tend to use for individuals who are knee dominant.โฃ
โฃ
I also LOVE to add in the for some added instability.โฃ
โฃ
The problem with these is that most people tend to over utilize the rear foot, causing too much stress around the knee joint or even over firing the hip flexors/quads in a stretched position. โฃ
โฃ
When you emphasize the planted leg, sheโ€™s forced to pull herself back through extension and work the glutes like theyโ€™re meant to be worked.โฃ
โฃโฃ
That back leg should be used for nothing other than minor stability (for the goal I want from this particular exercise), placing more emphasis on the front leg and working the posterior chain properly.โฃโฃ

Remember, smarter & much harder.โฃ

Sheโ€™s lost about 30-35 lbs and now showing all the muscle sheโ€™s worked so hard to build๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผโฃ
โฃjayda is getting ready to compete for her very first show in a few weeks, and I couldnโ€™t be more proud of the dedication sheโ€™s put in during the diet.โฃ
