This is an inclusive initiative that targets the health needs of African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asian Americans, Native Americans, and other minorities. It builds awareness regarding the unequal burden of preventable death and sickness in these groups. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In collaboration with AHL Reading & HHS Office of Minority Health, Latino Connection focuses on improving health outcomes by promoting health education, health literacy, and early management of disease complications. This year's theme, 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, emphasizes how cultural and linguistic needs can influence health outcomes.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Now more than ever, this issue must be at the forefront of policymakers. Data shows that minorities make up a large part of the U.S. population and will soon become the majority. Taking their need to access proper health care seriously ensures that they can contribute not just to economic growth, but also to enrich our country with their cultural contributions as well.⁣⁣

The City of Reading is hosting a series of focus groups to better understand how our citizens experience their health care system. All willing participants must be City of Reading residents and will receive a 100$ Visa gift card. Sessions will be for two hours.
