Have you heard of the proposed ReCAL project?
For the past several years, various committees in Reading have been collaborating on a proposal for a new senior center. The result is the Reading Center for Active Living (ReCAL), which is planned for Symonds Way, next to the Burbank Ice Arena.
Assistant Town Manager Jayne Wellman talks about the need for a new space and why this is the right choice for Reading. There will be a town vote on May 13th to decide on this project, as well as the Killam School Building Project.

This May, Reading will decide whether to move forward with plans for a new school to replace the Killam Elementary School. Pat Tompkins, Chair of the Permanent Building Committee, has been heavily involved in the development of the project. He talks about why a new school is needed and why this particular plan is the right choice for Reading.

Hi folks,
Some personal side projects have taken up a lot of my free time over the past 6 months or so, but looking forward to getting back out there with Around Reading profiles in the New Year.
In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about a new venture I am starting: Your Story.
- Do you wish you had a video recording of your parents or grandparents?
- What stories of their childhood would they tell?
- How did they decide to start a family?
- How has the world changed in their lifetimes?
As I hope is evidenced by this page, I’ve always enjoyed telling people’s stories. My career in communications has spanned 20+ years, starting in local news, and then from national news all the way to community media. I've interviewed people about everything from municipal programs to personal history. And I’ve worked to make even the most camera-shy people comfortable while being recorded.
These videos are not for the public; they are private videos meant to be shared with loved ones. My goal is to help to preserve family history and offer sentimental value.
