The main, and most noticeable, difference is the staple that I use. Professional Reeds use real cork Pisoni and Rigotti oboe staples. Advanced Student Reeds use synthetic cork brass staples. Both reeds are scraped with extreme care and are dedicated a great deal of time. I make my reeds over several sittings, letting the cane settle. I play or break-in, each reed for about 30 minutes, time during which I make the final adjustments.
