Growing up I was always taught that America was a beautiful melting pot of different cultures and different types of people. It was a place of opportunity, a place where ANYONE could live the American dream. I remember feeling lucky to live in such a place.

The older I got the more I realized that this wasn’t the case. We like to pretend our country is a place where our differences are celebrated but instead it is quite the opposite.

No matter skin color, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or culture we are all human and we all deserve equal rights.
