Collision Masters

State Farm didn’t want to pay for proper and safe repairs. A customer called me from Raleigh. He wrecked his 2015 Toyota 4Runner. He took his truck to Collision Masters. State Farm wrote an estimate of $7.876.78. Collision Masters wrote a comprehensive estimate of $16,679.08. The State Farm adjuster started denying things and said we don’t pay for that, no other shop asks for that procedure, that’s not “ usual and customary.” All those comments means the customer and/or the shop is about to get stuck without getting paid for correctly repairing the Truck. Ashley told the customer that they could challenge their own insurance company by invoking the appraisal clause and hiring me. State Farm was removed from the negotiation process and now their independent appraiser and I were tasked with agreeing on a repair cost. After exchanging estimates and multiple emails we agreed State Farm would have to pay $16,017.91. Mind you, potentially the customer would have been responsible to pay the shop $8,141.13 out of pocket that State Farm said “ we don’t owe for that!”
Never trust a repair estimate written by the company that owes you money for repairs.
