FRESH is a group exhibition featuring new works of visual art by North Carolina artists. Unlike a traditional juried exhibition, all submitted works will be displayed in our main gallery spaces from September to mid-October before our juror makes her selections. The final juried exhibition debuts on October 29th. Artists may submit one work of art. All submitted works must be for sale.
We are excited to share that our juror this year will be Lia Newman, the Director/Curator of the Davidson College Art Galleries. Lia is particularly special to us, as she was Artspace's Director of Programs + Exhibitions from 2002-2012!

We have an exciting new solo exhibition and artist/curatorial discussion next month with Sam van Strien!
His show, "From This Valley We Soon Will Be Leaving" brings together drawings, rubbings, and prints by the artist that explore the lasting legacy of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the sweeping New Deal program that transformed the Southeastern United States during the 1930s and 1940s.

Rather than being a lecture, our artist discussions invite the audience in for a shared small-group conversation. We will take a careful look at Sam's works, use visual thinking strategies to interpret, and discuss some of the following topics:
- Who benefits from large-scale development? Who pays the costs?
- How do we remember the places and structures that are no longer here?
- How does our built environment influence our collective memory and sense of heritage?
We welcome anyone to the discussion, regardless of your knowledge of art or the exhibition's themes.
