This years theme is ‘Let’s talk about dementia’ and an international campaign is being run to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds the disease.
An estimated 44 million people in the world have Alzheimer’s disease. In the United States, 5.5 million people have the disease. Every 66 seconds, someone in the U.S. receives an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. It’s predicted that by the year 2050, 16 million people in the U.S. will have Alzheimer’s.
