Congo Initiative is an envisioned community of Christ-centered Congolese leaders and global partners united for the transformation of lives and a flourishing Democratic Republic of Congo. Work hard for the common good. Forgive and be forgiven. Do not dwell in the past or conform to the pattern of the world. Do something new and be transformed by renewing your mind. From joining UCBC as a visiting lecturer to serving today as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Dr. Rebecca Wasingya’s journey reflects what happens when potential is recognized and nurtured.

At UCBC, leadership is not defined by position alone, but by service. Dr. Wasingya models a servant leadership style that is grounded in heart and humility. She raises the bar and lifts others in the process, creating opportunities for women to lead and to strengthen their classrooms as well as their communities.

Through teaching, mentorship and leadership development programs, Dr. Wasingya is helping shape a new generation of changemakers who lead with integrity and purpose.

The work of transformation in eastern Congo is not done alone. It is part of a larger story of the global Church.

Through partnerships, prayer and shared mission, churches and individuals around the world are walking alongside UCBC students and their communities. Together, we are learning from one another, encouraging one another and participating in God’s work of renewal.

This is what mission looks like today—not one-directional, but mutual. A global community joined in faith, hope and a shared calling to serve.

“You can become anything you want. It all depends on your determination.”

For UCBC alumnus Kelly Mulisya, these words from his late father continue to shape the way he lives, works and creates.

Today, as an entrepreneur and co-founder of M.Cuts Production, Kelly is driven by a vision to tell authentic Congolese stories with excellence and originality. His work reflects not only his talent but a deep commitment to using storytelling to serve others and uplift his community.

At UCBC, he learned to think beyond the classroom. Now, he’s passing that vision on by training others and helping ensure that powerful local stories are told by those who have actually lived them.
