We’re thrilled to announce that Sandbox, a subsidiary of See Saw Projects, is launching its very first production: Middlegame, a bold new play by Raleigh playwright Andrea Black.
This reimagining of Medea—told through the lens of a Black woman in America uses puppetry and masks (created in collaboration with Paperhand Puppet Intervention) to craft a visual world that is both mythic and urgent.
After a powerful first reading, Sandbox is moving into the next phase: bringing the puppets and masks to life. These elements are essential to the spiritual and symbolic language of the play, and we need your help to make them happen! No donation amount is too small.

From Andrea, “If you’ve ever been moved by stories of myth and motherhood, or the quiet injustices of everyday life, this play is for you. And if you believe in live theater as a space for transformation and truth-telling, we would love your support.”
