Last month I made WAY too much Cinnamon Syrup for messing around with winter cocktails...it's obviously NOT winter weather anymore (give it 2 weeks). Enough syrup that it's now defining an entire month of cocktails (sorry not sorry) and given that 90% of our cocktail game is weather dependent, we're starting with simple tiki-style drink (simple by tiki standards) that's part daquiri and part simplified zombie. Either way it's delicious, and if we're lucky will put a major dent in this cinnamon simple.

Boukman Daquiri courtesy of Franklin Mortgage in Philly
1.5oz White Rum, we used Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum
0.5oz Cognac, I knew that bottle of Hind would come in handy!
0.75oz Lime Juice, fresh squeezed or g**o
0.75oz Cinnamon Syrup, 1.5:1 ratio

Combine all them wonderful ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake...vig or russ lee. Strain into a coupe/nick & nora glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

For the simple, in a sauce pan combine equal parts (say 1c) of sugar and water. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and add a few cinnamon sticks. Cover and let steep for an hour. Bottle it and use all month with us!

I am the last barman poet / I see America drinking the fabulous cocktails I make / Americans getting stinky on something I stir or shake / The s*x on the beach / The schnapps made from peach / The velvet hammer / The Alabama slammer. / I make things with juice and froth / The pink squirrel / The three-toed sloth. / I make drinks so sweet and snazzy / The iced tea / The kamakazi / The or**sm / The death spasm / The Singapore sling / The dingaling. / America you've just been devoted to every flavor I got / But if you want to got loaded / Why don't you just order a shot? / Bar is open.

After all that we needed a cure, the last in our cocktail/movie series and surprisingly we've never done a single cocktail from the movie...Cocktail. While the movie features a bunch of fancy (and somewhat dated) cocktails filled with flash, this is the one to wrap up a month of cinematic imbibing.

1 beer, poured into a pint glass, roughly 3/4 of the beer.
4oz Tomato Juice
Couple of dashes of Tabasco
2 Aspirin
Pinch each of kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
1 whole Egg

Stir

Drink in 1 gulp.
