A Bike For Every Tike (ABFET) Non-Profit Program Information

MISSION STATEMENT
The main goal of this program is to provide bikes to local children who need them and whose families cannot afford to buy them. The secondary goal is to decrease bike waste by encouraging people to donate or sell unused bikes to the program so that they can be used to get bikes to children in need. Bikes are important

This 2 yo girl got her first vehicle – a Huffy Sea Star 12” Bike. She loved it! She also got some books. There's an abandoned tennis court near her home that will be a perfect place for her to learn to ride.

These siblings' (girl 4 & boy 6) family moved here from Egypt. They were very excited to get bikes. Both were tall for their ages so they were given bikes a size larger than average. I worked with the boy to teach him to ride without training wheels, but found that he was having difficulty balancing. He wasn't quite ready so we put training wheels on his bike. They got a Novara Duster 20 Bike & Huffy Glitter 16” Bike.

This 10 yo boy wanted a BMX bike so we got one ready for him. I want to give props to Rob Wood who has been fixing a lot of BMX bikes lately for our program. They typically need new brake cables among other things but replacing the cables can be a pain (also not cheap). The boy doesn't do trick riding yet but says he'd like to try, so I gave him some knee, elbow & hand pads. He got a Mongoose Gavel 20” BMX Bike & pads.

This 12 yo boy needed a bike but was unable to balance on just 2 wheels. He was absolutely full of questions! Do I live here, how long, who else, can I tour the house, the yard, how old are you, what's this coat made of, can I go out to eat with them … & a whole series of do you know who “various cartoon characters” are? LOL From the time he got here until he left – questions! He was really sweet & gave me several hugs. He was very happy to get this 24” adult tricycle. I only wish I could give away more of these adult tricycles or bikes with adult-sized training wheels. There's a lot of need for them, but they're hard to find used & they're quite expensive used or new. Please let me know if you have any of these to sell or donate.
