RISE Project Conducts Accelerated School Readiness (ASR) Facilitator Training in Amhara and Oromia Regions

As part of the EU-funded Resilient Inclusive Schooling in Ethiopia (RISE) Project, Geneva Global Ethiopia (GGE) and implementing partners delivered Accelerated School Readiness (ASR) training to 194 participants across the Amhara and Oromia regions. The training brought together ASR facilitators, school directors, Woreda Education Office staff, and project staff to strengthen their capacity to deliver quality, inclusive, and child-centered ASR.

In the Amhara Region, GGE trained 83 participants at Debre Markos Teachers College from July 1-5, 2026, while the Center of Concern (CoC) conducted parallel ASR facilitator training. In the Oromia Region, GGE and People in Need (PIN) jointly trained 111 participants at Oromia State University, Nekemte Campus, from July 1-6, 2026.

The training equipped participants with practical knowledge and skills in ASR teaching methodologies, early literacy and numeracy, the effective use of teaching and learning materials, and the preparation of locally available instructional resources. Sessions on Psychosocial Support (PSS), Psychological First Aid (PFA), Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), diagnostic assessment, and child profile registration further enhanced participants' ability to create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for children affected by conflict and displacement.
