“I have lived in my neighborhood for years and my children are still at an age where they like to play outside in the cul-de-sac. Recently we got new neighbors who decided that the cul-de-sac was not a place for children and proceeded to tell me my children needed to go to the park and play instead. At the risk of getting off to a bad start with the new neighbors I also wasn’t about to be bullied either. So first things first… let’s call the family law firm to find out where we stand legally. I spoke with the ‘Ordinance’ specialist at MY Oregon Provider firm that told me that according to Wilsonville ordinances, my children were well within their right to play in the cul-de-sac. “My wife received a letter from a law firm in New York 2 weeks ago stating that she is being subpoenaed to sign some papers & give some info about a family member who owed a large debt to the State of New York. The family member stayed with us for a few months about 5 years ago and then moved on. It was in the form of a subpoena and the law firm commanded her & gave her 10 days to comply or be in contempt. We quickly faxed it over to our provider law firm here in Florida who reviewed it and advised us that the law in Florida is different & they would turn it over to our provider law firm in New York. We got a call today from our provider law firm in New York & they told my wife that the law firm who sent the letter had no legal right to do it & not to lose one minute of sleep over it! Had we not been LegalShield members, we would have felt pressured to comply because hiring a lawyer at $200.00 an hour to find out our rights is out of the question. Proud to be LegalShield members!
