Rhode Island Civil Rights Roundtable

In past years:
The Roundtable is a consortium of over 40 community organizations and advocates committed to advancing the civil rights of all Rhode Islanders through community dialogue, legislative advocacy, educational forums and the like. Purpose of the Roundtable:
• To develop trust and collaboration among the agencies and individuals who work on civil rights issues in Rhode Island.
• To form and maintain a communications network.
• To formulate a consensus agenda of common public policy or legal issues to work on together.
• To work across boundaries to make positive change. Principles:
• Any group interested in Civil Rights may be a participant in the Roundtable.
• The Roundtable will take positions on matters of public policy and legislation. All members are not required to agree with every position.
• Meetings are open and groups or individuals who do not wish to be listed as members may still attend meetings.
• We all represent under served constituencies so we must stand together. Original co-founding groups of the Roundtable were the NAACP-RI and NCCJ-RI (now named Rhode Island for Community & Justice). RICJ continues to administratively organize and support the Roundtable.
