Every year on my birthday, I remember to check my net worth and not my wrinkles.😅
Yes, I have one ritual that never changes: I check my retirement balance.
Not because I’m obsessed with money but because I am obsessed with peace of mind. There's a difference.
Here’s why:
Your checking account is quietly shrinking every day thanks to inflation. That’s why I tell my fellow Survivors, keep just one month’s expenses there. Park your emergency fund in a high-yield savings or money market account where it can actually grow (and still be there in a pinch).
And when it comes to long-term savings? Step away from the refresh button. Compulsively checking your 401(k) is like watching bread rise...👀nothing good happens faster because you’re staring at it.
Remember: a properly balanced portfolio earning about 7% a year doubles roughly every decade, even with the down years. That’s the magic of time and compounding doing their thing.
Take a moment to celebrate the gift you have given your future self by saving and investing for them!
Easy peasy.
✅ Check your long-term plan once
✅ Make one small improvement
✅ Then go celebrate your future self
Because your money — like you — deserves to get better with age. 😉
