The board of DD is tone deaf to the DSP crisis. A requirement not allowing those without a high school diploma or GED locks out a significant applicant pool. The state has provided short term waivers but that is not a fix and does little to help. It is a way for the state to brag, saying they are trying to help but short term is in fact, short term.

It makes no sense to reject 40 and 50 year olds who have lived successful lives and provided for their families to be turned away. This is the perfect applicant pool for providing homemaker personal care. More than qualified yet must be turned away.

Imagine the care and support those with developmental disabilities miss because of bureaucrats tucked away in private offices Columbus believe cant open their eyes and ears. A GED does not make a better DSP, never has, never will.
