Ampact, a national nonprofit organization that offers evidence-based AmeriCorps programs, has officially launched its recruitment of local City of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County residents to serve as Early Learning Corps and K-3 Math Corps tutors in the City of Poughkeepsie next school year.

Tutor placement sites include Poughkeepsie City School District; Little Water Prep; Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh and Poughkeepsie; DAY One Early Learning Community; Community Family Development; and Astor Head Start.

As AmeriCorps members, local residents receive a number of benefits including:
* A paid stipend every two weeks
* Money for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55+ may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.
* Free health insurance and child care assistance for those who qualify
