We are excited to announce the 2026 Yakama Nation Willamette Falls Lamprey Celebration. The event will take place on Thursday, June 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Clackamette Park in Oregon City, OR.
We gather to honor Asum (Pacific Lamprey), one of our sacred first foods. The celebration is held near Willamette Falls—derived from our traditional Sahaptin name, Wilumpt—to honor our ancestors who have harvested at these falls since time immemorial. We also recognize the past leaders who fought to retain our harvest rights and the tribal members who continue this traditional practice today.
The celebration will include cultural dance performances; speakers from our tribal leaders and guests; a boat tour to Willamette Falls as well as a complimentary salmon & lamprey meal!

A new chapter is beginning at Hillside Park, one of Oregon’s first public housing communities. 275 new affordable homes are now open, and residents are already moving in.
Residents of Hillside Park have access to community resources like food pantries, common rooms and play areas. There are also on-site services, and for people with higher needs, additional supportive services like case management, employment support and rent assistance.
This is just the start of the community effort to strengthen and expand Hillside Park, led by Clackamas County, Oregon, Metro, Related NW, Walsh Construction Co., Ankrom Moisan and many others. When it’s complete, Hillside Park will offer nearly 500 permanently affordable homes.
The Metro Affordable Housing Bond helped fund the construction of Hillside Park’s newest buildings.

Check out Ikanum, a tree-filled plaza nestled in between the new East County Library and MAX stop in Gresham. Ikanum is the Chinook Wawa word for old stories.
Funded in part by Metro’s Nature in Neighborhoods Capital Grants program, the space reflects a broader vision: bringing the outdoors into everyday urban life while creating opportunities for connection, reflection and shared community experiences.

May is Affordable Housing Month, a time to recognize how vital it is for people at all income levels to have a place to call home.
Since voters said “yes” to the Metro Affordable Housing Bond in 2018, 5,379 affordable homes have been completed or are underway.
Because of this collective investment, more people like seniors, families, veterans and people with disabilities can find affordable homes in their communities.
There’s still a lot more work to do. Keep up with the latest bond progress: https://bit.ly/4tL5cbR
