Hoplandia Beer

Like all good people, we’re big fans of The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed, so we’re quite pleased to currently be featuring not one but two beers that reference Saint Lou. We have the lovely Sweet Jane IPA from —which owes its title to the classic track of the same name from the VU’s album Loaded—and the light but deeply flavorful Hit Me With A Flower from and —which takes its name from the Lou solo track “Vicious” off of his classic Transformer record.

Fun fact: the “Vicious” lyrics sprang from Andy Warhol, who, according to Reed, said, “Why don't you write a song called 'Vicious'?” And when Reed asked what kid if vicious, Warhol responded: “Oh, you know, vicious like I hit you with a flower.” Pretty cool!
