As part of our research for the 2024 USDA Forest Service Wood Innovation Grant, we developed three typologies addressing diverse uses and site conditions. The Civic/Assembly Typology employs tilt-up CLT panels, open trusses, and external buttresses to create flexible spaces for public events, performances, and exhibitions, as well as adaptable industrial or technology uses, while emphasizing the material and sensory qualities of mass timber.
