Happy Wilderness Wednesday! Hiking through the Diamond Peak Wilderness in the Deschutes National Forest means wandering beneath a volcanic peak shaped by glaciers, past quiet alpine lakes and stands of pine, hemlock and fir. In this stretch of the Cascades, every trail winds through a landscape carved by fire, ice and time—reminding us what’s at stake if we don’t protect these wild places. Take action to protect our roadless forests at the link in our bio.
Happy Wilderness Wednesday! Hiking beneath the glaciers of Mount Hood — Oregon’s tallest peak at 11,240 feet — means crossing alpine meadows, rushing glacial creeks and forested slopes shaped by fire, snow and volcanic forces over millions of years. From towering Douglas-firs to the rocky ridgelines that pikas and marmots call home, this corner of the West Cascades ecoregion reminds us why protecting Oregon’s wild places matters.
