The Multnomah Arts Center presents three new exhibitions in its Front & Center Galleries.
Conjuring Color, a group exhibition by the Portland Natural Dye and Pigment Group, will feature work by over 15 local artists in the Front Gallery. PDX Natural Dye and Pigment https://www.facebook.com/groups/pdxdye/ is a group of regional artists who create colors out of natural materials like rocks, rust, kitchen scraps, fungi, and plants. Utilizing a range of techniques for transferring this color, they then create sculpture, books, paintings, drawings, apparel, quilts and more. "Most of the color in these works has been made from raw materials we have grown, gathered, or salvaged, and then extracted and/or prepared by hand," they say. "Our processes are informed by traditional recipes and cross-cultural wisdom as well as modern methods."
