Mountain Shop was founded in 1937 by local climber/skier Everett Darr and his wife. Together they imported pitons and crampons from Europe and made climbing packs for their friends. Through several owners and locations, Mountain Shop has remained a locally owned and operated store, making it the oldest (that we know of) shop of its kind in the country.

You’ve set out on your big adventure, you picked the perfect place to set up camp and you’ve just arrived - only to find that one mission-critical piece of gear isn’t exactly in the working condition it should be in 🤡
To those who’ve been there before - lesson learned (... hopefully).
