Portland Table Tennis Club

In association with USA Table Tennis (USATT) Para Program, the Portland Table Tennis Club (PTTC) hosted an Adaptive Table Tennis Workshop on the Vancouver Campus on Sept. 22 and 23. About 14 Veterans participated in the event that was coordinated by VAPORHCS Recreation Therapist Gerri Hendricks. The event is the result of a VA grant awarded to the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) supporting Paralympic sport and physical activity programs for disabled Veterans and disabled members of the Armed Forces.
Paddle Palace, a local Tigard area table tennis supplier, donated paddles for all participating Veterans. A KGW-TV news team was on hand to cover the event and highlight one of the Portland area event supporters, Andrey Borovik, a future Para Olympic hopeful who lost both his legs in an accident as a child. Sean O’Neill, USATT Director of Communications and past Table Tennis Olympian and Olympic coach, was on site providing support and coaching to Veterans.
