How do images shape what we remember, who we become, and whose stories endure?

Our newest edition of , “Imaging the Fixed and Fluid Body: The Work of Eleanor Kipping”, explores these questions through the multidisciplinary practice of Eleanor Kipping, our 2025 Mentorship Residency Artist in Residence.

Across performance, photography, video, and installation, Kipping investigates the relationship between image-making, identity, memory, and power. In a new essay by writer, editor, and curator Meghna Singh, readers are invited into Kipping's practice, where Black, q***r, and rural histories converge to illuminate narratives too often left unseen.

As we celebrate six years of , we invite you to read this latest essay and revisit the breath of this digital text based archive. Learn more through https://indigoartsalliance.me/the-record/imaging-the-fixed-and-fluid-body-the-work-of-eleanor-kipping/.

Indigo Arts Alliance alumni Adebunmi Gbadebo Mentorship AiR ‘26 and Thania Petersen Mentorship AiR ‘24, are two of just 110 invited artists featured in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, In Minor Keys, curated by the late Koyo Kouoh.

Kouoh was the second African-born curator to lead the Biennale, following Okwui Enwezor’s groundbreaking edition in 2015. A celebrated Cameroonian-born curator behind some of the most significant presentations of African contemporary art in recent decades, Kouoh’s passing came just before the exhibition’s theme was to be unveiled. This makes “In Minor Keys” both a historic international exhibition and a profound tribute to her vision. Completed with the full support of her family, the exhibition invites us to encounter art as a sacred space, one that restores our sense of proportion, reconnects us to the earth, and reminds us of our shared humanity.

Gbadebo’s immersive installation draws on material memory and ancestral resilience, while Petersen’s monumental textile works honor histories of resistance, care, and creative survival. Watch as our Executive Director Jordia Benjamin takes us for a closer look at the extraordinary works our alumni have brought to the international stage.

In Minor Keys will be on view now through November 22, 2026 at the Giardini, the Arsenale and in various locations around Venice. Visit the link in our bio to learn more about the Biennale and our participating alumni. 🔗
