Today is National Red Rose Day!
Living in the Rose City, we see roses all around, all year round, but today highlights the most romantic rose of all, the red rose.
From opulent, over-the-top displays at Roman bacchanalias, to their use in medieval weddings, and now their ubiquity every Valentine's Day, red roses have long been a symbol of fertility, fidelity, and love.
Red roses can be found in works of art from ancient frescoes in Pompeii, to Tudor era royalty and even the David Hockney exhibit at the Portland Art Museum, and this month is the perfect month to see why!
The International Rose Test Garden is in full bloom right now, and admission is FREE!
This century-old garden is the oldest rose-testing garden in the country and features over 10,000 rose bushes! Head on over today, take pictures of your favorite red roses, and share them in the comments! There may be a prize involved for those that share!

National Donut Day is the perfect excuse to treat yourself (and maybe grab a few extras to share)!
There's something about a fresh donut that brings people together. Maybe pick up a box and share with your neighbors? Nothing says "have a great day" quite like a box of donuts!
What's your favorite local donut spot?

You won't want to miss the Annual Junior Parade, another fun and fabulous event in the City's ongoing Rose Festival!
The Parade is an annual tradition, dating back to 1918, when a small group of local children decided to have their own Rose Festival Parade, since the Festival was cancelled due to World War 1! From a plucky assembly of bikes, trikes, and a wagon, to today's marching bands, dance teams, and walk-on participants, the Junior Parade has grown into one of the highlights of the Festival!
'The parade starts at Noon, with Fred Bear cutting the ribbon to kick things off, but you will want to arrive early so you can get a good seat!
