Last Sunday, Christian Clough, Canon for Liturgy & Music, led a presentation about the life and work of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, whose choral mass, Berliner Messe, the Cathedral Choir will sing with string orchestra on June 7. Christian shared about Pärt's unique compositional technique, his spiritual inspiration, and the ways in which Pärt plays with time and mood to create music that is unique, beautiful, and spiritually powerful. Celebrate Christmas with us! On Christmas Eve, we'll hold two worship services: a family service at 5:00 PM, featuring familiar Christmas carols and hymns and festive organ music, and our Festal Eucharist service at 10:00 PM, with musical prelude and carols beginning at 9:30 PM. At our Festal Eucharist, we'll rededicate our Incarnation Reredos (the beautiful oak screen behind the altar table) in celebration of its 100th year at St. Luke's Cathedral. On Christmas Day, the Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Brown, Bishop of Maine, will preach and celebrate the Holy Eucharist. Our Christmas Day service begins at 10:00 AM. Learn more on our website: cathedralofsaintluke.org.
