2025 was MapleXO’s year of the pivot. We saw the world shifting and had the courage to shift with it. We carried a vision that felt bigger than where we stood… a secondary retail plan to grow alongside MapleXO in our building.

But truthfully, those plans didn’t land. Not this time.

And when the dust settled, we learned something honest: pivoting in small business isn’t a simple turn. It’s an era. It asks for reflection, risk, and the willingness to step forward without guarantees. Sometimes it asks you to fail in plain sight.

Huge take away: That’s okay!

Because failure isn’t an ending. It’s a clearing. It makes space. It strips things down to what actually matters—and gives you the chance to begin again with sharper purpose.

So here we are. 2026. Dusting off the cobwebs in these skate legs and returning to what fuels us most: skateboarding… and giving old skateboards new life.

Huge thanks to for the fun session tonight, and to Maddie and Audi for the boards to recycle. And to everyone who’s stood with us, believed in us, and kept pushing alongside us—thank you.

Being a small business owner means the rawness of real life sometimes blends into what we do here. This one has been tough and beautiful, heartbreaking and tender, but my biggest takeaway is how valuable community is.
Three weeks ago, my sister tragically and suddenly lost her husband of 22 years. He was an incredible human—youth football coach, recently elected city council member, church pastor and worship leader, and the most loving husband and dad imaginable. His loss at the young age of 50 has been a gut punch, but seeing so many communities wrap my sister’s family in love and support has been incredible.

One of my last conversations with Steve was about our big remodel and new chapter at MapleXO. He always advocated for me to lean into my community. When I had doubts about taking this next step, he said, “Sis, listen… do NOT let this opportunity pass you by!” He told me to trust in the community I’ve been building around me here for the past 20 years to help me get there.

After spending the past few weeks with my sister handling the hard stuff, I came back to work feeling overwhelmed. The next step was buying all the wood for my new loft buildout which felt daunting—but wouldn’t you know it, my shop mate knew someone giving away exactly what I needed. For free. Every last piece of wood for MapleXO’s next chapter, delivered right to our workshop (on Quincy’s birthday too). As soon as he pulled up to unload, another shop mate ran out to help us unload as well.

COMMUNITY. It really is everything. Don’t hesitate to lean into yours when you need them. And if you consider us part of yours, just know we are here for you too.

Thank you for your endless support of MapleXO and for your patience as we navigate this bumpy road towards what’s next. The light at the end of this tunnel is bright, and I can’t wait to share it.
