They said their vows inside Oaks Pioneer Church with stained glass glowing behind them… no guests, no audience, no pressure. Just quiet promises and the kind of love that doesn’t need a crowd.

Afterwards, we wandered through a Portland park as the light faded, laughing in the grass, soaking it all in, starting forever exactly how they wanted to.

Intimate. Intentional. Completely theirs.

This month, I’m intentionally spotlighting photographers who document immigrant life, identity, and resilience — stories that deserve to be seen, honored, and remembered. (First image is film from Iceland by myself and the rest are by Griselda San Martin).

Today’s feature is The Wall by Griselda San Martin, a powerful project documenting families separated by the U.S.–Mexico border who meet at the fence to connect, touch, and hold space for one another — even through steel.

These images remind us that immigration isn’t a headline — it’s parents, partners, children, love, and legacy. It’s human connection finding a way, even when systems try to make it impossible.
