Amidst the turmoil and strife, we are in the early stages of mourning: anger and denial. While we react in shock and horror, looking to our governments for solutions and arguing amongst ourselves about addiction, people we love are dying. Now it is time to unite in a real force of support, to end this drug epidemic. We need all of us to stop the senseless judgement, stigma and blame and put all of our resources - time, energy, money, skills, heart & soul - into uniting as community and a citizens army of change to end this scourge of addiction and begin healing our country. The drug epidemic claimed more lives last year than all Americans who died in the Vietnam War and is a true pandemic, affecting millions of lives: from those lost to all the loved ones left behind with shattered hearts and lives. We’re all impacted. We’re all in this together.
