We would be remiss if we didn't mark the recent passing of an OG Hosfordian, Paul Eugene Croghan. His softball career was cut short by injuries, but his spirit lives on as does this game that he was a big part of. Here is his baseball card from the original batch. Players pass through, some short and some long, but the game remembers.

Sad news. A pillar of early Hosford, Jerry Ostrem, has passed on to the green ballfield in the sky.

“Hosfordians. Sad news Jerry Ostrem (Zach’s dad) died today. He was one of the earliest players to play at the old school, and the first to only use a wood bat. One of the sweetest curmudgeons to grace the field. Wear a cardigan in his honor.”

It’s been a while since he graced the Hallowed Grounds, but those who got to play with him, he is remebered. Jerry loved the game and he was a good guy. Our condolences to Zachary Ostrem and family.
