I’m becoming more convinced every day that our connection to our bodies is a direct reflection of our connection to the collective. I see folks try to participate in social movements, try to be good partners and friends, pour themselves into service work only to burn out, feel lost, and have to disconnect to find themselves again. But when our connection to self is valued as an integral part of our place in the whole, things are different.

We are better resourced, have sustainable boundaries, risk more vulnerability because we in trust ourselves, and have a greater capacity to show up.

I see big game talked on the internet about embodiment, like I’m doing here… but what does it actually mean?

Fundamentally, I think that’s hard to describe in words cause it is by definition experiential - this connection with body is felt, not cerebrally learned. These paths get woven through noticing sensation, utilizing breath, and letting our bodies move how they need to.

My dear colleague and friend and I are combining our two favorite body-based modalities for a day-long immersion dedicated to inner exploration of the connection between body & mind, self & collective.

Come practice being humans in bodies together. There’s healing to be had, and connections to be made. Link 🔗 in b1o.

Looking for an embodiment practice that heals?

I know I’m not the only one who struggles to heal by talking around what hurts. Sometimes words can’t touch the things that need healing most - but fortunately the body has a different way of processing.

With the next Authentic Movement retreat just around the corner I’ve been sharing a lot about the healing potential of this practice. Authentic Movement was the modality that finally allowed me to overcome my trauma spirals and actually move through the emotions that ultimately freed me. In over a decade of studying somatics, both as a human on my own healing journey and as a therapist, I’ve never found a more direct route to relief. That’s why I spent the last 7 years studying it.

Now this retreat isn’t therapy, but it certainly will be therapeutic. It is a weekend for people who:
🫧 are dedicated to developing self awareness

🫧 lust after moments of deep attunement

🫧 cherish opportunities to see themselves and others honestly.

Register soon cause space is limited. DM me with your questions.

In the meantime, share in the comments what’s interesting to you about a practice like this? 💕

Today marks one year since one of my beloved teachers, Janet Adler, passed away. Janet’s dedication to the study of self, intimacy, and embodied consciousness inspires me every day to continue to revere my own body as my teacher, companion, and most cherished relationship. I am so grateful to her for leading me into my own inner wilderness by way of the Discipline of Authentic Movement. This practice has helped me know myself deeply, heal wounds nothing else could touch, and fall so deeply in love with being human. I am forever grateful.

I continue to learn from her every day I practice Authentic Movement every moment I open my attention towards my embodied experience and listen for my truth.

If you would like to learn from her too, I recommend her most recent book:

Intimacy in Emptiness: An Evolution of Embodied Consciousness
