We mourn the passing of David Ehrlich, who died suddenly of a heart attack this week in Jerusalem. May his memory be a blessing.
In 2009, JTC produced an evening of David Ehrich shorts called "Don't Mess with Savta" at COHO theatre in partnership with Dr. Michael Weingrad and PSU's Judaic Studies Dept. Bruce Melzer is a former public radio, newspaper and web journalist. He worked in Alaska and for national news organizations ABCNews.com and NPR. Bruce's father is a Shoah survivor who comes from a small town in Germany. Bruce shared his story of his father's journey back to his home town. His journey to come to terms with his past and explore reconcilliation with with a community that failed him, his family, his people. Thank you for sharing your story Bruce. .
Channbunmorl (Chom) Sou is the son of genocide survivors from Cambodia. He began his sharing on the Berlin Diary panel with an incredible I AM poem that seared and illuminated the complexity of his identity.
Chom's family immigrated from Cambodia in November of 1984 and had struggled many years adjusting to life in the United States. Chom is currently the CEO of Sou Family Recipes and JustBarz.com in which his mission is to create more unity and love through traditional Cambodian (Khmer) food and Hip Hop music.
